My Backyard Tours

My Backyard Tours offers fun, intimate and informative tours. Guided by local experts, our tours show you the highlights in and around the City of Yellowknife as well as give you the opportunity to fly to Peterson's Point Lake Lodge to spend time on the tundra. Our tours offer you the opportunity to enjoy local foods, develop your photographic abilities and capture the wildlife, plants and lichens that shape the intricate beauty of the tundra as well as learn about the history and culture of the people that make the North unique.

Aurora Lodges

Join us for a exciting opportunity to capture the northern lights during solar maximum and develop your digital photographic abilities. You will see special points of interest while in the City of Yellowknife before flying to Peterson's Point Lake Lodge where you can witness the annual caribou migration as well as see the plants and lichens that shape the intricate beauty of the tundra. Only offered one week per year to capture the fall colours on the tundra.

Join us for an exciting opportunity to devleop your digital photographic abilities while capturing the stunning beauty of the North; see local wildlife, northern lights, plants and lichens. View special points of interest while in the City of Yellowknife befor flying to Peterson's Point Lake Lodge and witnessing the caribou migration and intricate beauty of the tundra.

Wildlife Viewing

Caribou

Thousands of caribou pass through Point Lake each season on their annual migration. Watching the caribou migration on the barrens is an incredible experience. Our annual Arctic Photography Workshop with Dr. Robert Berdan provides all levels of photographers or anyone interested in viewing nature and exploring the tundra the ideal time of year to enjoy this type of outdoor adventure. The colours of the tundra are rich and vibrant with the reds, yellow and golds. Migratory wildlife including grizzly bears are commonly sighted during this time as well as tundra swans, peregrine falcons and arctic terns. Norhtern lights can be sighted as well.

Touring

Expand your awareness and appreciation of the plants and animals of the Northwest Territories. Savour the flavours of locally harvested caribou, moose, fish and wild berries. Learn about their Aboriginal uses from our cultural educator and enjoy professional guided instruction in preparing and cooking these foods.

Sightseeing Day Trips

Dreams of gold began in Yellowknife in 1934 when a couple of prospectors discovered the precious metal. Join local experts on an intimate tour of the City and/or the Ingraham Trail. Explore the stories of the people and cultural historic sites and learn about the building of this gold mining town to the diamond capital it is today. See local art and learn about the history and culture of the people that make this area unique.
