Tsiigehtchic Tourist Centre

Tsiigehtchic means "mouth of the iron river" in the Gwichya Gwich'in dialect. It is located on a hill above where the Mackenzie and the Arctic Red River meet. The community was known as Arctic Red River until April 1st, 1994. It is a chartered community, an agreement that the community acts as a municipality under the authority of the Gwich’in Tribal Council. Tsiigehtchic has a population of less than 200. The tourist Centre operates from June to August.
