The best, hardest hike
The Canol Trail is the most epic hike in North America. Wriggling 355 kilometres through the virgin Mackenzie Mountains, it traces the historic path of a World War II-era road and pipeline. Nowadays, save for the colourful wrecks of rusting trucks, the region has been reclaimed by pure nature. No signposts, no boardwalks, no bridges. Just a whole heck of a lot of untamed, unpeopled country – chock full of brooding peaks, roving wildlife, rumbling rivers and peace that will stir your soul.
