Just a few generations ago, the lakes and rivers of the Northwest Territories were highways for the Voyaguers – for the brave fur-traders, often Métis, who gathered the beaver pelts of the Northwest frontier. Today you can relive the Voyaguer experience on Yellowknife Bay, travelling in the grand canoes of the coureurs des bois, hearing their songs, sampling their foods and learning their stories.
