When you are eating out, try a northern specialty. Fresh whitefish, arctic char, lake trout, pike and pickerel are often on the menu. Muskox, bison and caribou are also northern delicacies.
Local and nationally recognized northerners are featured in galleries in larger communities across the Northwest Territories. Their work reflects the northern aesthetic. In painting, print and silkscreen you’ll find the bold colours of the aurora and summer skies, and the soft as silk colours of the tundra and winter forests. Both Aboriginal and non-aboriginal artists are represented, in all media. Inuit and Dene sculptors, from across the Arctic are represented in our northern galleries. Our potters are also showing unique northern designs, with rare and unusual glazes.
