Why photographing the Northern Lights in the Northwest Territories never gets old.
With six stunning canyons, the Mountain River is considered the most coveted whitewater canoe trip in Canada by seasoned river-guides. Its remote setting and big, fun whitewater with jaw-dropping mountain scenery will thrill you right to the confluence with the Mackenzie River.
Enjoy the traditional look of the teepee under the dancing Aurora in a more personal, private setting! All tours are a smaller group size with limited seating each night, so book early! Enjoy the warm crackling fire while sitting comfortably inside our teepees and listening to stories about our Ancestors by our Indigenous guides.
On our tour we’ll be paddling the upper part of the Thelon River, the largest river in the Barren Lands and easily the most magnificent. The Thelon is, without question, the most remote and the most pristine wilderness river of any considerable size left in North America. There are eight rapids along our route but no portages at all. Our entire route is on the tundra, south of the Thelon Wildlife Sanctuary, and is one of the most remote places left in the world.
Our guided Eileen River/Sled Creek canoe adventure offers exclusive access to one of the best wilderness wildlife trips in the Northwest Territories!
This is our top trip for spectacular campsites and world-class hiking opportunities in a very remote tundra wilderness. Our canoe trip lies a short distance past the treeline (edge of the forest) in the Barren Lands, west of the Thelon River headwaters.
