Festivals, food, fishing derbies and fun.

Northerners keep busy year-round and always have something to celebrate. No matter your interests, you're sure to find an event that tickles your fancy, Whether it's the return of the sun after a month-long absence at the Inuvik Sunrise Festival, cheering on the dogsleds that whip around a frozen bay during the Canadian Championship Dog Derby, enjoying the best of Northern film-making at the Yellowknife International Film Fest, dancing in the sand under the midnight sun at Folk on the Rocks, learning new kayaking manoeuvers at Fort Smith's Paddlefest, or watching master carvers at work during the Great Northern Arts Festival and the Long John Jamboree.

Every community you visit in the Northwest Territories has its own special events and jamborees to welcome back spring. You'll find snowmobile races, ice-fishing derbies, and the best in local food delicacies. Visit in the summer for National Indigenous Peoples Day celebrations and marvel at the drumming and dancing performances.
