Acho Dene Native Crafts

Acho Dene Native Crafts is a collective of over 40 cottage producers living in the community produce the products sold by the store. These products are made using a blend of ancestral techniques and themes with traditional and modern materials to make birch bark baskets, jewellery, moccasins, mittens, mukluks and other souvenirs.

Acho Dene Native Crafts offers a number of arts and crafts made out of traditionally smoked moose hide and birch bark. The hide is accented with beaded designs while the birch bark crafts have designs made out of porcupine quills. Products include: birch bark baskets with porcupine quills, birch bark bowls, moose hide moccasins, moose hide mukluks, traditionally beaded accessories, and much more!

Crafts from the Dene of the Fort Liard, Nahanni Butte, Fort Simpson and Trout Lake area in the western NWT. Gallery orders accepted.

Fireweed Studio

Yellowknife Guild of Arts and Crafts members display their one-of-a-kind works for viewing and sale at the Fireweed Studio. Located by City Hall on Veteran’s Way.

This historic log building once housed a blacksmith shop at the Giant gold mine. Designated a historic building in 1996, it now serves as the Fireweed Studio. Yellowknife Guild of Arts and Crafts members display their one-of-a kind works for viewing and sale. Open during the summer on Saturday as well as during the farmer’s market, June 21 until Labour Day weekend.

 

Gallery on 47th

The Gallery on 47th Street is a family-owned, local art gallery. We’re focused on providing a venue for artists to exhibit new collections in a professional, dedicated space.

Norman Wells Historical Society

Norman Wells is a quint little community nestled along the Mackenzie River and surround by beautiful mountains. The Norman Wells Historical Centre – Museum has many artifacts from the Canol Heritage Trail and History of the Sahtu Region.

The Great Bear Gift Shop is in the Norman Wells Historical Centre; we carry many traditional crafts from Sahtu Regional artists along with gifts for any occasion.

Come experience the true beauty of Canadian diamonds. We feature and sell a variety of loose diamonds, mined, cut, and polished in the Northwest Territories. We also display an arrangement of set jewellery that embodies the unique origin and stunning rarity of diamonds from the Canadian North.

We tell the stories of Diavik and Snap Lake Mine – located 300 kilometers north of Yellowknife – is told in this interpretive exhibit. We showcase the fascinating geology of kimberlite deposits, the technology of mining in the sub-arctic, and the process to turn a rough stone in a beautiful diamond. You can purchase diamonds on site that have been mined, cut and polished in the NWT.
