Polar Pond Hockey

Polar Pond Hockey is the purest form of the greatest game in the World! Our event has been celebrating this by hosting our Polar Pond Hockey tournament on the Hay River since 2008. All hockey lovers of any skill level are welcome, there is no 1st place trophy, the tournament is fun and we promise you will have a ton of fun!!

Polar Pond Hockey has become a major community fundraising effort for Hay River’s new recreation centre/arena. Due to its popularity, the Polar Pond Hockey tournament attracts over 40  teams and has become the most sought-after winter event in Hay River with representation from all the Northwest Territories, Northern Alberta and British Columbia. In previous years, the Polar Pond Hockey Association has provided its pond hockey venue to the Hay River Minor Hockey Association and has raised funds throughout the years for Hay River Minor Hockey, local grad classes, and local Olympian, Brendan Green. Polar Pond Hockey also fundraised for the new Fisherman’s Wharf Pavilion, the future home of Polar Pond every March.
