Great Northern Adventure Signature Package

Day 1

Meet your guide at the airport in Inuvik, collect your bags and start your adventure. You will experience a town tour of Inuvik, learning about the Northern community before we take you on a scenic ride along the Inuvik-Aklavik ice road to the small community of Aklavik. After a town tour of Aklavik, we will bring you to your traditional accommodation at the Okpik Arctic Village for the evening where you join your local guide and Village inhabitants in the tipi, cabin or igloo for dinner.

Day 2

Start off your morning at the Village with breakfast in the cabin. After breakfast, your local guide will give you a tour of the Village. During your tour you’ll have the opportunity to take part and experience how we live off the land through mixing traditional knowledge, modern technology and traditional activities. Join us dog sledding, while you learn how to ready the dogs and mush your own team. After a traditional lunch, we will take you back to Inuvik. You will have plenty of time to enjoy the majestic scenery and take photos. This is your free evening to explore the magic of Inuvik and all it has to offer.

Day 3

Travel the brand new Inuvik-Tuktoyaktuk Highway from Inuvik to the coastal community of Tuk (local name) on the brand new and only highway to the Arctic Ocean. Your local guide will share stories and history of the area, pointing out local landmarks and other points of interest including the Lady of Lourdes Schooner, traditional sod House, local churches, Distant Early Warning Site, Trans Canada Trailhead site. After your Tuk tour, you will receive a cultural tasting where you get to enjoy lunch at the famous Grandma’s Kitchen with us, and you will have some time to explore Tuktoyaktuk by foot, enjoying everything the hamlet has to offer. After 3 to 4 hours in
Tuktoyaktuk you will return down the Inuvik-Tuktoyaktuk Highway back to Inuvik.

Accommodation: B&B with shared bathroom or hotel for an additional cost. Tuktoyaktuk town tour provided by Steen Enterprises.

Day 4

Get ready for a drive down the Dempster Highway! We will venture along the tundra/taiga from Inuvik towards Eagle Plains. Along the drive, we will stop in Tsiigehtchic and Fort McPherson where we visit the grave site of the Lost Patrol and also go across the Mackenzie and Peel River. Other opportunities to get out and enjoy the views include the NWT/Yukon border as well as the Arctic Circle.

Day 5

A fresh Arctic morning! You’ll depart Eagle Plains along the Dempster Highway with breathtaking views of the Ogilvie and Richardson Mountains and a stop at the beautiful Tombstone Territorial Park to immerse yourself in the unique wilderness! Explore rugged peaks, permafrost land forms, all of which are an integral part of the rich First Nation culture. You will arrive in Dawson City, Yukon in the evening, when the city erupts with energy. Visit any of the local saloons and great restaurants.
