How to get to the NWT

Fly or drive from major cities

The Northwest Territories is closer than you might think. Direct flights connect Yellowknife to major hubs like Toronto, Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver. From Yellowknife, you can access much of the NWT, like Inuvik, by air. If you’re driving, reach the NWT via highways from Alberta or British Columbia. You can also access the Arctic Ocean by road using the scenic Dempster Highway from the Yukon.

Each season in the Northwest Territories offers something different. Summer brings the midnight sun, warm temperatures and access to open water, incredible camping, and spectacular hikes.
