3-Night Aurora & Culture Experience

Lac La Martre Adventures is 100% Indigenous owned by Tłı̨chǫ Adventures Ltd. We invite you to experience the wonder of the Aurora Borealis and connect with Tłı̨chǫ culture in the heart of the Northwest Territories.

Our fly-in lodge rests on Clemy Island, along the secluded shores of Lac La Martre—the third largest lake in the Northwest Territories at 1,000 square miles. Just a short floatplane ride from Yellowknife, the lodge neighbors the Tłı̨chǫ Dene community of Whatì, whose people have long called these lands their traditional hunting and fishing grounds.

Fall Aurora Viewing Package

Available in September, this 3-night experience blends Indigenous culture, northern lights viewing, and wilderness exploration. Guests enjoy private ensuite cabins, hearty northern meals, and the warm guidance of local hosts.

Highlights of Your Stay

Aurora Borealis – Learn about the science and stories of the northern lights in an evening presentation, then step outside to witness the dancing Aurora above the lodge, from the sauna deck, or beside a glowing fire.
Cultural Workshops – Join local hosts for bannock and tea, beading, and in-season cranberry picking. Gather with an Elder for storytelling steeped in Tłı̨chǫ tradition.
Community Connection – Take part in an optional walking tour of Whatì, where you’ll gain insight into the rhythms of daily life in a northern Dene community.
Fishing & Wilderness – Enjoy half-day guided catch-and-release fishing trips with shore lunch prepared over an open fire. Along the way, watch for eagles, loons, and wildlife that call this land home.
Relax & Explore – Canoe along island bays, hike the trails, or unwind in the new wood-fired sauna between adventures.
