Visitors to the Northwest Territories are often surprised by the range of services available, from travel agents and inbound operators to vehicle and boat rentals and more.

Car and truck rentals are available in Yellowknife and larger centres and can usually be booked from the 1-800 number from southern Canada. Dealers and rental agencies will want to know where you are headed - if you are driving long distances, you will have a more comfortable ride in a larger vehicle. In some regional hubs, you may also be limited to 4x4 trucks. Make sure to book as far ahead as possible to ensure you have priority on a long weekend, or for an important trip.

Travel agents and planners are particularly helpful when you have to arrange air travel for a group or if you need to connect with ongoing reservations. They can handle changes to your schedule effortlessly.

Also good to know: many communities are well set up for meetings and conferences, offering accommodation and conference support for groups of 16 or less to 600 persons. You will want to book a reasonable amount of time in advance, as venues do get busy with government, industry and special events. For more information on booking conferences, please visit the Conferences website.
