Enjoy Orvis-endorsed accommodations at the Scott Lake Lodge on your fly-fishing trip to Saskatchewan/Northwest Territories, Canada: There are many Canadian fishing lodges, but there is only one with a half a million acres of productive water – more than a lifetime of fishing opportunities; only one with a guide team averaging over twenty years on the water, and only one with first-class facilities and a culture where clients and guides share the dinner table and their life experiences. Scott Lake Lodge is that place where world-class fishing meets world-class customer service. For nearly three decades, the owner/management team has operated with a “we can make it better” philosophy, adding something new and better each year: We never rest, so our clients can. The end result is a crafted experience that brings back our guests year after year. Over the past decade, our customer return rate is 85% and our year-to-year return rate is 55%. It all starts with our location and our resources. Resting on a 12-acre island in the middle of sprawling Scott Lake, the lodge is on the Saskatchewan/Northwest Territories border, offering an unmatched level of solitude. During your time with us, no matter how far from the lodge you roam by boat or floatplane, you will see no one other than the new friends you flew in with (and you will only see them at dinner). There are no other lodges, no other boats, no feeling as you pull into a bay that someone was just here. Just you, your fishing partner, your guide, and all that water to explore. And all those fish! It’s a powerful experience. It’s the Scott Lake Lodge Experience.

Blachford Lodge a stunning eco-friendly lodge is situated in pristine wilderness, 100 km from the city of Yellowknife in Canada’s Northwest Territories. It is only accessible by bush plane and operates in summer, fall and winter, offering seasonal unrivalled views of the night sky, unpolluted by artificial light. Blachford Lodge is one of the most sought-after destinations for aurora viewing in the Canadian north. Summer is flooded with bright sun, long days, and trophy fishing for Pike, Trout and Grayling.
Our guest facilities include free wireless internet, hot tub, sauna, and Aurora-watch wake-up service. Unusually for a remote lodge accessible from Yellowknife, our main building includes running hot water and showers, as well as comfortable hotel-style toilets. There are 5 guest rooms in the main lodge, and 5 separate stand alone log cabins. These log cabins provide a special blend of comfort and adventure, taking you back to the days of the fur-trappers, European pioneers and indigenous peoples who helped make northern Canada the vibrant, yet still timeless place that it is today. Check out our virtual tour here!
Blachford Lodge has become one of the world’s top Aurora viewing destinations for very good reason. The Eco-initiatives and authentic experiences offered by the lodge are topped off by the best Aurora viewing opportunities on earth. From far and wide, guests travel to Canada’s north to be wow-ed by the hospitality, outdoor experiences, and dazzling skies that the lodge has to offer.

We also have an extensive public collection of information regarding the geological and cultural history of Yellowknife including that of the gold and diamond mining in the area, following that journey right up to the Giant Mine Remediation Project.
The Yellowknife Historical Museum and Interpretive Centre is located on Chief Drygeese Territory, the traditional territory of the Wiiliideh Yellowknives Dene First Nation and home of the North Slave Métis. We respectfully acknowledge our presence on the Indigenous land around Yellowknife.

Aurora watchers and stargazers agree there are few better places to see the Aurora than Blachford Lodge. From mid-August, when night skies turn a velvety black to late October when the lake begins to freeze, Blachford guests can be treated to late night shows of the northern lights. On calm nights the lake also reflects the sky, doubling the awe-inspiring images. Autumn is a great time to sit outside in comfort and just lean back and enjoy the show.
To avoid disappointment, we recommend a minimum three-night stay at the lodge to maximize your chances of a beautiful aurora show. We provide daily forecasts of the intensity of the anticipated show, based on several sources including NASA, and our own local astronomynorth.com.

Welcome to your summer getaway, north of 60. Far from the noise and bustle of any city, Blachford Lodge is happy to be your home away from home in the summer months. Bask in the midnight sun (yup, you can read a book outside all night long!), catch a trophy fish, hike on some of the world’s oldest rock, or simply enjoy the beautiful nature that surrounds you. Blachford Lodge is the perfect place to get away and discover a new sense of self, and a new appreciation for the beautiful landscape surrounding you.
Blachford Lake offers trophy sized Lake Trout and Northern Pike! In recent years the winning entries in our Trophy Release Contest were a 38 lb. Lake Trout, and a 32 lb. Northern Pike. Whitefish can be caught in Blachford Lake, and Walleye (around 4 or 5 lb.) can be caught on two of the adjoining lakes that are just a short walk from Blachford Lake. The ice melts on the lake in early June making it an excellent time for fishing. Throughout June through to early July, fish are generally caught close to the surface. In late August thru to September Northern Pike bite a lot in shallow water. In early September Trout swim in deeper water and by late September they rise to shallow water to spawn.
At Blachford Lodge we actively promote a “Catch & Release” Fish Management Program that includes the use of barbless hooks and fish gloves to ensure the careful and healthy release of all large fish. However we encourage our guests to enjoy tasty smaller fish for shore lunches or dinners!
Fishing licences must be purchased prior to your arrival at Blachford Lodge and is required for anyone who wants to fish. You may purchase one online at https://services.nwt-tno.ca/en/login
