Cultural Day Trip Fishing Tour

This day trip offers a deep appreciation for the lake, rooted in cultural heritage and traditional fishing knowledge. The experience includes a guided field trip onto the lake, where you’ll engage in demonstrations of fishing tools, and learn to build fish picks. Participants will explore fish habitats and learn how to protect them, set and lift fishing nets, and take part in essential camp chores.

Enjoy a fresh fish fry with bannock and tea, and learn how to properly fillet fish and set for different types. You’ll also discover how to gather scientific data from your catch, enhancing your understanding of fish in Great Slave Lake.

3-Hour Mackenzie River to Reindeer Station Tour

Join us on a 3-hour guided tour from the Mackenzie River to Reindeer Station, where the old settlement of Inuvik began. We’ll explore the area’s rich history, including a visit to my grandparents’ old camp, which still stands today. You’ll get a chance to see traditional tools and learn about how people lived and worked in the past.

After touring the historic site, we’ll take a scenic drive back along a different route, making a full loop through small creeks and beautiful wilderness. Along the way, keep an eye out for local wildlife such as moose, bears, beavers, birds, and even wolves. There’s always something amazing to see on this journey through the land.

3 Night Aurora Viewing

3 Night Trip Schedule

  • Day 1 – Arrive at Brabant Lodge, acquire fishing license, lunch at 12pm, daily activities until Aurora Viewing
  • Day 2 & 3 – Daily activities until Aurora Viewing
  • Day 4 – Morning float plane flight returning to Yellowknife, NWT

See the grandeur of Red Cliff Island on this 4-hour scenic boat tour. Ron will share his deep knowledge of the land’s history and significance while you enjoy fishing in the area or learning more about the culture of the Łutsël K’é Dene through traditional Indigenous storytelling.

The East Arm is world-renowned for its amazing fishing, and the steep cliffs of Red Cliff Island make for a stunning place to cast off and catch some of the colossal fish that swim in Great Slave Lake. Keep an eye out for iconic Northern wildlife while Ron takes you to all the best spots and treats you to a traditional shore-cooked meal – he’s confident you’ll agree that fish from the East Arm tastes significantly better than any you have had elsewhere.

Climb on board a guided boating tour of Yellowknife Bay.

We will travel along the shoreline of Yellowknife’s largest gold mine, Giant Mine, N’dilo, a Yellowknives Dene Community, and pass through the eclectic houseboat community. You will then refuel with a delicious lunch and ice cream at the Sundog Trading Post in Old Town.

Two Hour Guided Paddle Tour

Explore Yellowknife’s houseboats and Back Bay in a kayak, with a guide who will share kayaking tips, local stories and Yellowknife history.

Paddling with children? Participants must be 16 years of age, or accompanied by a parent/guardian. Generally, there are 2 paddlers per canoe. We can accommodate smaller children by having them sit in the middle of a canoe. Adults or larger children can also sit in the middle with two other paddlers if they simply want to relax and enjoy the ride! For kayaks, we can provide single kayaks.

Old Town Full Day Tour

Come on board for a memorable day around Yellowknife!

Start the day with a hot beverage at the Sundog Trading Post followed by a boat tour of Yellowknife Bay where you will learn some of the history of the area and visit the decorative and eclectic houseboat community. You will return to Sundog Trading Post to refuel with a delicious lunch and homemade ice cream. In the afternoon, you will join an informative walking tour of Old Town. Walking tour attractions include Pilot’s Monument, Cultural Crossroads Painted Rock and the Woodyard shacks.
