When you are eating out, try a northern specialty. Fresh whitefish, arctic char, lake trout, pike and pickerel are often on the menu. Muskox, bison and caribou are also northern delicacies.
Our local airlines and charter services can be hired for an hour or a half day or more for flightseeing. You pay by the hour and the size of the aircraft. Two or three people can split the cost for a very economical scenic tour.
Cabins and Campgrounds
In addition to Northwest Territories Government-run campgrounds, there are some private campgrounds, and some cabin-type accommodations. The private campgrounds are all located on the highway system near Hay River.
