Fort Providence Territorial Park

Enjoy great fishing, bison and bird watching, and take advantage of the services available in nearby historic Fort Providence, featuring visitor services, tours, fishing, groceries, a motel and restaurant. The campground is on the north bank of the Mackenzie River, only two kilometres off Highway 3.

Willow Ridge Retreat

Peaceful, cozy and remote all-season accommodations.

In the winter, a perfect Aurora watching retreat;  in the summer, a midnight sun playground. With a lake and river bordering the property on two sides, our fully-equipped, off-the-grid guesthouse is an inviting getaway for slowing down and enjoying the gifts of nature.

 

Wood Buffalo National Park – Pine Lake Campground

Pine Lake Campground: located 60km from Fort Smith on Pine Lake road, the Pine Lake Campground features peaceful sites with fire pits, tent pads and picnic tables. The area is also equipped with potable water, firewood, sewage dump, outhouses, and a playground. Hook-ups are not available.

The self-registration camping fee is $15.70/ night per campsite. The campground is open from May long weekend through to September long weekend. Two sites are wheelchair accessible.

Kettle Point Group Camp: located 60km from Fort Smith on Pine Lake road, features a log shelter, tenting area, fire circle, firewood, picnic tables, outhouses and playground. The site is wheelchair accessible. Reservations are required, with a minimum group size of eight people. The group camp has a $39.20 non-refundable reservation fee plus a fee of $4.90/person/night.

All along the highway, stopping places beckon: wayside picnic areas, campgrounds, parks, quaint churches, traditional villages, tumbling rapids or roaring waterfalls. You’ll find countless places to camp, fish, view wildlife, canoe, pick berries, take a photo or a hike.

The territorial parks and campgrounds are operated by the Government of the Northwest Territories Tourism and Parks Division. Services are provided from May 15 to September 15 each year.

Our territorial parks and campgrounds offer some of the best camping accommodations in North America. We offer 17 campgrounds on the doorstep of pristine wilderness but within reach of modern community services and amenities.  Our campsites are spacious, and many campgrounds provide showers and flush toilets as well as dumping stations for RVs. All our campgrounds provide secluded sites for those who want to get away from it all in tents.  Firepits are standard for all camping sites.  Our campgrounds offer an affordable way to comfortably explore the Northwest Territories in your own or rented vehicle; they are conveniently located along our highways throughout the territory, allowing you to explore our land and communities at your own pace.

 

Salt River Elders Village

Visiting Wood Buffalo National Park? We offer four log cabins out by the Salt River, for rent by the night or the week.

Four cabins overlooking the river, large hall is ideal for meetings or weddings, numerous picnic sites, boat launch and a children’s playground.

 

Det’an Cho Tourist Camp

Gorgeous outdoor location for family reunions, or back to nature retreats. On the banks of the Little Buffalo River on Highway 6. Capacity of 30. Cabins with kitchen, living room, bedrooms and main lodge. Great fishing at Great Slave Lake just minutes away. Canoe rentals, paddle boats. Open year-round.

 

Paradise Garden and Campground

Private campground in a valley just south of Hay River.

15 sites, 12 with electricity. There is harvest-it-yourself berry picking on site.
