Nature's North Wildlife Gallery

Nature’s North Wildlife Gallery is much more than just a specimen gallery. You will take part in an artistic experience with many of the animals who call the Northwest Territories home – over 60 species of birds and mammals! Our tours are led by guides with extensive knowledge and experience of the fauna of the Northwest Territories who can provide a personalized experience and answer any questions the guests might have.

Guided Tours include a detailed walkthrough of the gallery with one of our guides, as well as a visit to the taxidermy workshop for an in-depth explanation of the taxidermy process and an opportunity to touch and handle a variety of the furs featured in the gallery.

Please Note: Available for groups of 6-20 people. Other accommodations are possible for smaller or larger groups at an additional cost, please reach out!

Fishing Tour on the Mackenzie River

Polar Pack Adventures - Mackenzie River

We offer an exciting fishing tour along the Mackenzie River, where you can try your hand at catching both large and small fish, including Jack fish and Coney. All the necessary equipment is provided. Alternatively, you can enjoy a scenic tour of the Mackenzie River, which includes a visit to Reindeer Station—the original site of Inuvik. You’ll get to see both historic and modern buildings. On the return trip, we’ll take a different route to give you a fresh perspective, and if we’re fortunate, we might spot some local wildlife such as wolves, bears, seals, moose, beavers, and a variety of birds.

Experience Lutsel K’e

Experience Łutsël K’é

This 2-hour community tour provides the opportunity to learn more about the history and culture of the Łutsël K’é Dene and to get a sense of daily life in a remote Indigenous community. Łutsël K’é is the only community out on the East Arm of Great Slave Lake, and the people who live here enjoy a way of life balanced between traditional ways and modern conveniences.

Learn about the landmark development of the Thaidene Nene Protected Area, the international recognition the area has earned, and its importance to the culture and history of the community.

See the grandeur of Red Cliff Island on this 4-hour scenic boat tour. Ron will share his deep knowledge of the land’s history and significance while you enjoy fishing in the area or learning more about the culture of the Łutsël K’é Dene through traditional Indigenous storytelling.

The East Arm is world-renowned for its amazing fishing, and the steep cliffs of Red Cliff Island make for a stunning place to cast off and catch some of the colossal fish that swim in Great Slave Lake. Keep an eye out for iconic Northern wildlife while Ron takes you to all the best spots and treats you to a traditional shore-cooked meal – he’s confident you’ll agree that fish from the East Arm tastes significantly better than any you have had elsewhere.

Spend two days and two nights getting a completely authentic experience of the area around Thiadene Nëné and Łutsël K’é. Tour the community itself and enjoy a scenic boat trip out to Red Cliff Island, learning the history and hearing Indigenous storytelling from Ron himself. Hearty meals and an authentic shore lunch are included, and Ron’s rustic overnight camps will have you resting in full view of the Red Cliffs themselves, ready for more adventure the next day.

Choose how you spend your time on the land and waters of the East Arm – fish in secluded spots, take a wilderness hike or check traditional fishing lines in the area. Your time on the land is yours to enjoy – most guests find they enjoy a mix of adventure and relaxation, taking time for activity and reflection. Ron’s enthusiasm for storytelling and providing the best experience will inspire you to make the most of your time here.

Our campsite is surrounded by breathtaking scenery on a flat sandy beach. World famous fishing for monster Lake Trout and Arctic Grayling is minutes away from camp and you will be catching fish right away. Above all, Our guides are the best in the industry. They will make sure you have a safe memorable experience. You will be staying in classic style prospector tents with wood pads. Comfortable cots and sleeping bags will keep you comfortable and warm. In addition, At night, you can relax beside a toasty fire while talking about your exciting day!

In the NWT, Northern Pike regularly grow between 20-30lbs and sometimes can reach over 40lbs. Because of their power, large size, big teeth, and enormous appetite they are a sought after trophy fish.

East Arm Day Trips

Yellowknife Sportfishing Adventures
Come along on an unbelievable Yellowknife Fishing Day Trip in the East Arm.

These Day Trips are perfect for visitors that are short on time or have other plans while visiting Yellowknife.

Primarily we would be targeting trophy Lake Trout, but we can stop at a few honey holes along the way and try for Northern Pike and Arctic Grayling. Everything will be taken care of and all fishing gear will be supplied (except fly fishing gear).

We will depart at 6am from Yellowknife to the East Arm aboard our fully loaded 24ft Kingfisher Experience. You’ll have a busy day of catching trophy Lake Trout, Grayling and Northern Pike. We will break for lunch and you’ll be treated to a mouth watering fried fish shore lunch from a fish that you caught. After an action-packed afternoon, we will return to Yellowknife by 6pm. All of the fishing equipment is provided and is top of the line.

Houseboat and Heritage Lunch

Climb on board a guided boating tour of Yellowknife Bay.

We will travel along the shoreline of Yellowknife’s largest gold mine, Giant Mine, N’dilo, a Yellowknives Dene Community, and pass through the eclectic houseboat community. You will then refuel with a delicious lunch and ice cream at the Sundog Trading Post in Old Town.

Explore Yellowknife’s houseboats and Back Bay in a kayak, with a guide who will share kayaking tips, local stories and Yellowknife history.

Paddling with children? Participants must be 16 years of age, or accompanied by a parent/guardian. Generally, there are 2 paddlers per canoe. We can accommodate smaller children by having them sit in the middle of a canoe. Adults or larger children can also sit in the middle with two other paddlers if they simply want to relax and enjoy the ride! For kayaks, we can provide single kayaks.
