We invite you to put life down for a little while, and take the opportunity to add more playfulness, curiosity, and kindness to your body, mind, and heart. The Den offers drop-in classes, registered series courses, workshops, and special events. Most of our offerings are a blend of various movement and wellness practices including yoga, sustainable movement, joint mobility and strength, meditation, and mindfulness.

Nature's North Wildlife Gallery

Nature’s North Wildlife Gallery is much more than just a specimen gallery. You will take part in an artistic experience with many of the animals who call the Northwest Territories home – over 60 species of birds and mammals! Our tours are led by guides with extensive knowledge and experience of the fauna of the Northwest Territories who can provide a personalized experience and answer any questions the guests might have.

Guided Tours include a detailed walkthrough of the gallery with one of our guides, as well as a visit to the taxidermy workshop for an in-depth explanation of the taxidermy process and an opportunity to touch and handle a variety of the furs featured in the gallery.

Please Note: Available for groups of 6-20 people. Other accommodations are possible for smaller or larger groups at an additional cost, please reach out!

Embark on an enlightening afternoon session dedicated to exploring the vibrant culture, history, and way of life of the Dene people. This experience is designed to deepen your understanding and appreciation of the indigenous communities in the Northwest Territories. As you delve into our traditions, stories, and authentic culture, you will gain a new perspective of the North and its people.

Optional add-ons to this experience include traditional indigenous lunch (typically a tasty stew and bannock), and a traditional dog sled ride.

Please note that the Dene Cultural Experience has a minimum of 5 people per tour date.

To truly immerse yourself in this enchanting experience, book our spacious luxury sky dome near Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. The tour takes place minutes from Yellowknife in our THREE skydomes! We have one large skydome that holds ~20 guests and have recently added two newly MINI skydomes that can each accommodate ~10 guests.

Guests are welcome to use all three domes and the outdoor space throughout their aurora tour.

Two Hour Authentic Dogsledding Tour

North of 60 Aurora Adventures

Embark on an exhilarating dog sledding tour through the breathtaking boreal winter wonderland near Yellowknife, Northwest Territories.

Glide across a frozen lake as you become part of an age-old tradition that showcases the deep bond between northerners and their loyal sled dogs. Dog sled rides are approximately 25 minutes each, and total tour is approx. 2 hours, pending group size.

There are two sessions per day for dog sledding; The first session starts at 12, and if there are more than 16 people booked, the second group will start at 2. We will contact all who are in the second group to confirm their pickup times. If you are not contacted you will be picked up at the regularly scheduled time.

The Yellowknife Historical Museum and Interpretive Centre showcases Yellowknife’s Indigenous, sporting, cultural, geological, and mining history. Along with our exhibit hall, this Museum also has a gift shop that is stocked almost entirely by local artists and a Restaurant/Café area open for lunch and dinner.

Our Museum has a wide verity of interests for locals and tourists. In our exhibits, you will see a variety of displays highlighting:

  • The history of the Earth: landforms, rocks, and minerals
  • The history of the people: Indigenous Culture, arts, entrepreneurial settlers, sports, and recreation
  • The History of industry: prospecting, mining, agriculture, fishing, and remediation

Exhibits that have been of local interest for School tours are our exhibits featuring Inuit and Dene games, hockey, dog sledding, curling and an interactive play area for children and those who are children at heart. We also have an extensive public collection of information regarding the geological and cultural history of Yellowknife including that of the gold and diamond mining in the area, following that journey right up to the Giant Mine Remediation Project.

The Yellowknife Historical Museum and Interpretive Centre is located on Chief Drygeese Territory, the traditional territory of the Wiiliideh Yellowknives Dene First Nation and home of the North Slave Métis. We respectfully acknowledge our presence on the Indigenous land around Yellowknife.

This is a community-driven Museum run by the non-profit organization the Yellowknife Historical Society. Entry is by donation.
