Mackenzie Cabins

Mackenzie Cabins is located on the majestic Mackenzie River, Mackenzie Cabins offers a beautiful view of the river in a quiet natural setting.

3 Cabins each equipped with a coffee maker, small fridge, microwave, BBQ, beautiful log bed/s and a propane fire place. Each cabin also has a deck with lawn chairs to relax and enjoy the view along with access to fire pits, a shared washroom/shower house and gift shop.

Whether you are fishing off the shore, hiking along the river, or resting in your cozy, rustic cabin, Mackenzie Cabins is the perfect place to experience some nature or simply enjoy some quiet.​ Open year round.

We are the Hay River adventure experts. See Hay River like you have never seen it before. We offer boat tours on Great Slave Lake, fishing tours to Brabant Island at the mouth of the Mackenzie River, and many other services which will make your stay in Hay River unforgettable.

Our family-friendly campsites will not only satisfy the camper who craves a genuine rustic experience, but also the more discerning camper who prefers modern amenities. 2 Seasons Adventures’ campsites are spacious and private. Winter camping might be a new concept for the southern traveler but we have perfected winter camping.

Our yurts and cabins are all-season and offer a warm and cozy vantage point for experiencing our spectacular Aurora Borealis and starry nights.

 

 

Hay River Golf Club and Campground

Hay River Golf Club in the South Slave, NWT.

Carved out of the ancient Northern Boreal Forest, the Hay River Golf Course is a fabulous recreational facility. This tree lined 9-hole course featuring artificial greens will challenge any golfer. The scenery is beautiful, as the course hugs the meandering banks of the Hay River, and tall, white-trunked Aspens line the course to accent the green of the fairways.

10 stall campground and RV park located by the beautiful 9-hole course set along the banks of the Hay River. Each unit has electricity, a fire pit  and there is a pump-out station on site. With walking trails located nearby, your stay at the Hay River campground is the perfect stop on your northern adventure.

 

Nahanni National Park Reserve

What to Do in the Dehcho Region

Journey with the spirits of the Dehcho. Paddle through Canada’s deepest river canyons.  Fly Nahʔą Dehé with a legendary northern pilot. Breathe the mist of Náįlįcho. Find your Nahanni.

Nahanni is remote wilderness. Basic facilities are located at key sites in the park reserve. The majority of campsites for river travellers have no facilities.

The main visitor season for Nahanni National Park Reserve is mid-June to mid-September with the peak in July and August. Reservations are required for river trips in the park reserve and should be made well in advance due to popular demand.

Registration through the Nahanni National Park Reserve Adminstration office in Fort Simpson is required prior to entering the park. For all overnight visits, at any time of the year, de-registration is mandatory at the end of each trip.Nahanni staff are located at Virginia Falls and Rabbitkettle Lake during the summer operating season. Although exact dates vary from year to year staff are generally present at these locations between July 1 and August 31.

The Nahanni National Park Reserve Administration office in Fort Simpson is the best place for information about visiting the park reserve. Office Hours:Summer (June 15 – September 15) Daily8 a.m. – 12 noon1 p.m. – 5 p.m.Winter (September 15 – June 15)Monday to Friday (Closed weekends)8:30 a.m. – 12 noon1 p.m. – 5 p.m.A Duty Officer is on call 24 hours daily between June 15 and September 15. The Village of Fort Simpson Visitor Information Centre as well as Blackstone Territorial Park feature displays about the natural and cultural heritage of the Nahanni area.

 

Hay Lakes Campground – Accommodation

The Hay Lakes Campground is a small camping site and picnic area nestled along the picturesque  Hay Lake, and only four kilometres from Fort Liard proper. This tranquil spot features fire pits, picnic tables, drinking water, firewood, a kitchen shelter and several campsites right along the shore. Set up your tent and enjoy the unmatched nature of the Dehcho for yourself.

Wekweeti Motel / Snare Lake Lodge

Situated above the shores of Snare Lake, the lodge has 6 rooms with 12 beds, it offers satellite TV and Wi-Fi. Contact the lodge directly for bookings and rate.

Little Buffalo River Falls Territorial Park

This picturesque spot features six non-powered campsites. The area was devastated by a forest fire in 1981; nearly 40 years later it is now an ideal spot to observe how nature replenishes the land. Relax by the small waterfall, launch your canoe in the gorge below, and enjoy the playground, trails, interpretive displays, and kitchen shelter.

 

Happy Valley Territorial Park

Located in the heart of Inuvik, this park offers 19 powered and eight non-powered sites, and convenient access to the town’s attractions. The park is situated on a bluff overlooking the east branch of the Mackenzie River, with a view of the Richardson Mountains. It ifeatures washrooms, showers, drinking water, a kitchen shelter and picnic area, a playground, and helpful staff.

 

Sambaa Deh Territorial Park

This popular park and campground are located at the junction of Highway 1 and the Trout River (Sambaa Deh in the Slavey language). The river was a traditional transportation route before and during the fur trade. The falls forced travellers to portage around this dangerous stretch of water. Today, hiking trails take you to views of both Sambaa Deh and Coral Falls, the latter named for the coral fossils washed down the river each year. The campground features 20 wooded, non-powered campsites, plus washrooms and showeres, firewood, water and helpful staff.
